Beyond Graduation
After more than 20 years working with students with diverse needs in Intensive Behaviour Support and Resource programs, I’ve had the privilege of supporting learners from Grade 8 through Grade 12. These students often needed individualized plans, emotional support, and creative ways to build confidence and life skills—especially as they prepared for the transition into adulthood.
Over the years, I began to notice something troubling. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many of these young people have become completely immersed in technology—often waking up and gaming until the moment they go to sleep. Social connection, physical activity, and even basic life routines started to slip away. For some, it became more than a habit—it became a barrier to independence.
This realization led to the creation of Elevate Community Connections—a mobile, relationship-based life skills program designed to help individuals who need extra time, structure, and support as they navigate life beyond high school.
Whether it’s grocery shopping, using transit, learning to cook, managing time, or simply reconnecting with nature and learning how to relax without a screen, Elevate focuses on small, achievable steps that build long-term growth. We meet people where they’re at—at home, in the community, or on the trail.
Elevate Community Connections was born from the belief that adulthood doesn’t begin at graduation—it begins with support, confidence, and connection. Everyone deserves the chance to step into their future with skills, structure, and hope.
